There are always simple techniques that helps you to get more work done.
Done right, you'll be able to increase your focus, which means more work done in less time and...
best of all, the end product will be higher quality.
I've tried many techniques, but there is only one that helped me reduce my work time radically.
But first, do you remember the 4 principles that we’ve already talked about?
Here is the first one:
The first principle for optimizing your life and enjoying your lifestyle while building a thriving business is......
to prioritize your family and social life, but when you work, you work.
Here’s what I mean.
Try to make your family, your social life, and your friends your top priority. After all, they’re the “why” of why you're doing what you do.
These are the people who care about you. This the life you want to live.
But the most important thing, is that when you work, you work.
After all, if you don't build a business, you won't be able to live the life you want.
So yes, you can enjoy your life, but when you do work, you focus, and try to be as efficient as possible.
And the best technique to have focus is the Pomodoro technique.
Thanks to this technique, I was able to get 40 hours of work done in 18.6 hours.
Yes, I saved myself 23.4 hours... each week, to enjoy my life.
But what is the Pomodoro technique?
If you don't know about it, it's a very simple technique. It's basically working in a focused session and then taking a break, working another session, taking another break, and so on.
I've heard a lot of discussions about what the best session length is, and it seems that many agree that a 25 minute working session and a 5 minute rest is ideal.
For me, I do this for smaller tasks that can be finished in an hour or so, but when I need more time to focus on doing one thing, like longer posts and so on, I go with a 50 minute working session and 10 minutes of rest.
The secret behind why this technique works is really simple, it's urgency. You see that you have only 25 minutes to focus on one specific thing, and you do your best to get more done in that time.
If you're writing, then keep writing and don't stop. Don't edit, you can edit later.
Chris Winfield goes into more detail about this technique and how to apply it in his great post, how to get 40 hours of work done in 16.7 hours.
BTW, this the article where I learned a lot about doing this stuff.
So that’s the first principle to building a thriving business while enjoying your life... and the simple technique to help you achieve it.
In the next lesson, I’ll share the second of the 4 principles to help you build a thriving business while enjoying your life.
Until next time,
Ahmed Safwan
PS.
I don't know of anyone who tried this second principle and did not continue living by it forever.
I'm sure you heard about it from many experts and guru, but you'll know why it's really that essential to apply it to have the life you want while your business is moving... at a faster pace 🙂
P.P.S.
Make sure to reply to the email that got you here and tell me how you plan to apply this first principle. Do you use other techniques to save time?
